Very very easy to open. With 2 handles for support, it is easier to stand and sit down (than the other type of cane seat). It is suggested that one straddles the seat for more stability, however, it can be used with your legs on one side like a regular chair (although the sling seat is narrow, so not too comfortable. ) We bought one of each type of cane seat and find both useful.

after exploring the internet for a suitable seat to assist me in outings,where i am dependent on a walker,i chose the sling seat. what arrived was a circular plastic one,tho every receipt and bill said sling.because i needed the seat immediately,i had no time to return it.
complaining to amazon resulted in a partial credit,which i have been unable to apply to a future purchase.
